March, 2018 ‘Ida Victoria Gallery’ in San Jose del Cabo, BCS Mexico. Thank you to Ida Gustavson and company for their attention, creativity and efforts hosting the presentation evening. A solo show, talk, demo, wine and appetizers along with a generous audience made it so much fun! I shared the importance of ‘direct painting from life’ and how it is the foundation of my work. I love the outdoors. The studio has it’s place but any opportunity to get out, I’ll take it. The Baja is perfect. The light in early morning and evening is magnificent and the climate, comfortable; what could be better for an old painter!? All over the Baja you’ll find handsome landscapes and people that make for interesting subjects. The slide presentation and discussion was under an hour, a half hour break for wine and food and then, a demonstration painting approximately 30 min. The final art you see below ( ‘Farmer in Ancient Doorway’ 18 X 24 in. oil on prepared board ) was touched up the next day and was sold that evening to a participant. The Ida Victoria Gallery presented 12 new works also seen below. Special thanks to my daughter Rachel and her friend Vanessa who ran the projector and took all these fine pictures!
